Believe it or not, I hadn’t shot an engagement or couple’s photo session at Midtown Park or Freedom Park in uptown Charlotte, NC prior to this session. I was very pleasantly surprised, however, with both parks during this engagement shoot with Abbey and Tyler. They had a variety of photo options even though they’re relatively small parks.
They’re both in great locations, with views of Uptown Charlotte, greenery, and an open field at each. I particularly loved the tunnel with hanging ivy surrounding the opening at Freedom Park. There were quite a few other people enjoying both parks which made it a bit trickier to not have people in the background of photos. We made it work, though. We just timed our photos well and for those photos where someone snuck in the background, photoshop was my bestie. No one wants randos walking in the background of their engagement photos, ya know?
Abbey and Tyler are high school sweethearts who first met at a high school football game. How stinkin’ cute is that, you guys?! They got engaged last winter and they’re getting married early 2022 at the gorgeous Separk Mansion. I cannot wait! Separk Mansion is a historic and elegant wedding venue located in Gastonia, outside of Charlotte. Separk Mansion is decorated with neutral tones, wood floors, crystal chandeliers and a lush garden. It’s going to be so gorg.
During this Midtown and Freedom Park engagement session Abbey, Tyler and I had a good time walking around talking and getting to know each other a bit. We chatted about family, their ideas for their wedding day and how their planning was going so far. They’re both so comfortable with each other (and who would expect any different after being together since high school?!) and were naturals in front of the camera.
I love the way their engagement photos came out and I’ve included some of my faves below for you guys to check out.
