Joliana and Tyler’s Engagement Photos at Billy Graham Library

This engagement session at Billy Graham Library was great for a couple reasons. The first being that they knew someone who worked there. Therefore we were able to get in after hours and had the entire place to ourselves. My dream, honestly. Privacy is sooo dang helpful in getting couples to feel more comfortable. The second being that there were a variety of backgrounds for plenty of versatility in their photos.

Like most couples, it took them a few minutes of warming up to the camera. But once they got more comfortable, they knocked it out of the park. They were so fun and playful with each other, laughing and talking to each other like I wasn’t even there. Which is exactly what I want! During these sessions I really just want my couples to focus on each other. It’s important that they focus on their relationship and this moment and time in their lives.

I never want my sessions to feel stiff or posed. Instead, I like the couple to just spend time with each other and have some fun together with me along for the ride! I usually get asked if I give direction to the couples since my style is unposed. And I always tell them “of course!” I like to prompt the couples to interact in certain ways, or to cuddle or hold each other in ways that I know will be flattering.

Joliana and Thomas will be tying the knot this summer at the Ballantyne Country Club. This is significant to them and their relationship because they actually met while they were on the golf team together at App State! Don’t you just love when things come full circle like that?
