Mary and Matt’s Jump Off Rock engagement session was everything you’d want in gorgeous fall Asheville mountain photos. We also started this engagement session off at Sky Top Orchard with some apple picking. This engagement session was definitely one of the more fun ones I’ve done. I’ve loved apple picking since I was young. It’s a tradition I’ve done every fall since I can remember. So when Mary and Matt said they wanted to do some of their engagement photos at Sky Top Orchard, I was thrilled.
We spent the first half of their session hiking through the many rows of apple trees together chatting about life and their upcoming wedding. It was a perfect, beautiful fall day in the mountains. The air was crisp, the sun was warm, and you could literally smell the apples all around. It was one of those fall days you dream about.
After we’d finished shooting at the apple orchard, we took the scenic backroads up to Jump Off Rock. This is a well-known spot for mountain views in the Asheville area. It’s a fairly small area. Therefore, I was glad there weren’t many other people there when we got there just before sunset.
The colorful leaves on the trees and the sun setting below the mountain tops made for some really special views. Mary and Matt both changed into more formal attire for these photos. Mary’s pale pink flowy dress was the perfect compliment to the blues of the mountains and the yellows and oranges of the leaves around them.
We were able to grab plenty of photos in about 15 minutes before the sun set and we were left without light. I liked that this spot had parking right on location. It makes it easy to get to, especially with a lot of camera equipment or when wearing heels like Mary was.
